In order for an individual to qualify as an Attorney-at-Law, one has to complete a 2-year pupillage at an approved chambers after passing approved bar examinations. An approved chambers is one that is headed by an Attorney-at-Law of at least 5 years call. The Attorney General's Chambers is also an approved chambers.

As the Seychelles has no universities and has a unique legal culture that one obviously cannot be educated in from foreign universities, the pupillage is an essential step in qualifying as an Attorney.

The Bar Association has proposed formal rules to pupillage to the judiciary, but to date none of the proposals have been implemented.
