The Ombudsman

The office of the Ombudsman has the role of investigating actions taken by public authorities in the exercise of its administrative functions where it is alleged that a fault was made, an injustice created, or one's constitutional rights have been or is likely to be infringed. The Ombudsman also has the role of investigating allegations of fraud or corruption in connection with any person in the exercise of their duties as a public authority. The Ombudsman may then set out recommendations in a report to deal with the maladministration. This report should be sent to the executive initially and if the Ombudsman is not satisfied with how the report is dealt with, he may then send the report to the head of the National Assembly.

The incumbent Ombudsman is Ms Dora Zatte.
